Builth and District Running Club Challenge

Welcome to a new club challenge, coming for 2025. We are putting forward twelve local races over twelve months, enter as many as you’d like, with each individual’s best five results counting. We have hand selected twelve local races, which are good value for money, and each runner only needs to complete five to be entered.
Our twelve races include a variety of tarmac and trail, hills and flat.

We have created a formula which will enable us to fairly compare a hilly trail race and a fast and flat road race. We will also age grade and gender grade results, as we did in the parkrun league.

So what are the twelve races for 2025? …

The rules are very simple.
*Only races completed after members have joined the club, or renewed their membership, will count towards the Club Challenge. (*apart from Resolution Run where we will give one weeks grace for new members)
*First claim club members only.
*Club tops must be worn (unless running for charity).
*Entry is automatic, please opt out if you want to run the races but don’t want to be included in the challenge.
*Please enter competitions using the links off the website and use club ‘Builth and District Running Club’ on entry, and we can look to get discounts for members in some future races.

Please understand that the aim of this challenge is to;
encourage fun and friendly competition between members,
encourage our members to take on more local events,
see more yellow and black vests and t-shirts on the start lines.

The formula to calculate the race results is simple (ish)
Runner completes the race and we take the finish time off the official results.
We calculate the age grade score using runbundle age grading calculator.
We will then calculate the average score of the top 10 finishers of the race.
This will give us a conversion factor for the difficulty of the race.
We then calculate the runners age grade time against the average top 10 finishing time.
This score will then be added to the runners league table, and the top 5 scores over the year are used to give the runner an overall score.

NOTE – you can actually use runbundle to calculate how fast you need to run to record a certain age grade score.

Below are the 12 results for the 2025 Club Challenge. Congratulations to the members who completed our challenge and thank you for those who got involved.

Well done to our top three of Eric Apperley, Lee Price and Haydn O’Reilly. Full results below.
