HOT WEATHER RUNNING!
Due to the recent spell of hot weather & running in the heat, it’s everyone’s responsibility to stay safe, here are some tips for running in the heat;

  • Stay Hydrated throughout the day – we plan to have a water station at the halfway
    point during the race.
  • Choose Clothing Carefully – Club kit must be worn as part of the rules, maybe think
about wearing a vest instead of a t-shirt, a thinner pair of shorts or perhaps wear a cap.
    (No speedo’s though!)
  • Don’t Push It – On a race day take the weather conditions into account, I know its a race
but finishing is an achievement in itself!
  • Wear Sunscreen
  • Make a Splash – Carry & use water to cool yourself during the race.
If you feel unwell or don’t feel you can complete the course, please do not run.
We look forward to seeing everyone on the 28th June.
    Many thanks,
    Hereford Couriers RC.

XC Final Instructions

As you know, the first race of the winter series is at 11 am On Sunday October 30th at Bearwood Farm, near Pembridge and hosted by Wye Valley Runners. This year we welcome back Maldwyn Harriers and Malvern Buzzards and for the first time, Brecon AC, Forest of Dean AC and Spirit of Monmouth AC. Hereford AC will also be hosting some training races for the younger age groups, which will start before the main race. Under 17s and under 20s will start with the main field, as before.

We are again pleased to have Ready Set Go Timings to provide us with chip timing and results. This year there are a few changes to the scoring. Overall trophies for first mens team and first womens team will be based on four to count in each of the five races, but it will be the team with the lowest aggregate time for the series that will be the winner. Time based scoring will also be the basis of awards in the individual categories, juniors, seniors and masters in 5 year age group from 35 upwards, for both men and women. The winner of each category will be the runner with the lowest aggregate score from their best 4 from 5 races, with awards to second and third in each category. Gun time will be used to calculate the race time. We are assured that this method of scoring has little if any impact on the results and makes it much easier to turn the results around quickly, particularly after the last race.

You will be issued with your series number by your team manager at the first race and must wear it for every race that you take part in. If you lose your number, there will be a surcharge for replacement. Please do not use any other number, other than one issued by your team manager.

Parking is limited at some of the venues, so please car share wherever possible. This saves you fuel, but more importantly makes life easier for the organising clubs.

We hope that you are looking forward to what promises to be a competitive and enjoyable series.

Herefordshire and Borders Cross Country League

Wye Valley Runners look forward to welcoming you all to Bearwood Farm, Pembridge for the first race of the winter season.

Our thanks to Ed Collins for making us so welcome at his home.

Please follow this link for directions and a course map. Please car share as parking is limited. Your sat nav will lie about the farm entrance – please check the map and follow the signs.

The race starts at 11.00 prompt as usual. Tea and doughnuts afterwards.

The course is new for the league and is a mixed route of trail, farmland and woodland. Two laps = 10k – we think it’s a great course and expect some fast times.

Baggage and parking plan is here As usual we will have first aid cover and portaloos handy. Hereford AC is planning junior races – more of that later.

Look forward to welcoming you all on the day – if any clubs have supporters that would like to help with marshalling please shout
